I’ve spent the last couple of weeks somewhat angry….and this is what happens when you awaken and actually start to pay attention to all the shit that is going on in the world.  I never thought or cared about those things because it seems that up until a few years ago, I was in some kind of stupor, coma-like state…outside of my immediate circle, I just never paid attention to anything or anyone else.  Now im very much aware, and more often than not, it leaves me feeling angry and upset.  Especially when it comes to injustices committed against women.  I have always been thankful I was born and raised in USA because I always thought we were such a progressive great nation.  Lately though, my tune has changed quite a bit.  In recent years, women’s rights, choices and freedoms have been attacked with alarming regularity.  Little by little, legislation by legislation, bullshit bill by bullshit bill, state by state.  I’ve always maintained that life is harder on women.  We go through more shit.  We have to always look over our shoulders from the time we are born to the time we die.  Many, many women experience date-rape at least once in their lifetime.  Hell we are not even safe in our own homes, around our own male family members sometimes.  This is a reality for many women.  We gotta deal with a monthly cycle that has us all kinds of crazy all month long with mood swings, hormonal changes, and then the awful excruciating cramps which I guess is mother nature’s way of preparing us for labor.  Don’t even get me started on pregnancy and the horrors of childbirth.  On top of all that stuff, we also get screwed over when it comes to relationships.  Over and over again, men lie, cheat, abuse, and trample all over us and somehow we pick ourselves up and try to find love again.  When woman cheat, it’s the unforgivable sin, deserving a stoning and in some countries, they very well do stone them.  Everyone comes down harder on woman when we fuck up, including and sometimes especially other women. How many times have you heard of a man killing his wife, girlfriend, significant other simply because she had the nerve to leave him.  Happens ALL THE TIME and if you don’t think so, you must not pick up the newspaper very often.  How many little girls (and yes sometimes little boys, pedophiles do not care really) go missing only to turn up dead after having been subjected to god only knows what horror.  My point is, it is FUCKING HARD being a woman.  Nothing we do is ever easy.  Everything has a weight to it, everything is complicated.  And this is why I am so strongly against a MAN trying to control a woman by severely limiting her choices and options and basically just trying to tell her what to do with her OWN BODY.  As if it wasn’t enough all the bullshit we have to deal with simply by being born female, we now have to deal with a barrage of legislation/bills coming at us in every direction concerning  everything from abortion, birth control, even women’s health care (?!),  and now we have to add breastfeeding into the mix?  Nyc hospitals, thanks to their power-hungry dictator mayor, are now severely restricting infant formula feeding in favor of breastfeeding.  The restrictions are so much, that its basically forcing women to breastfeed no matter what.  In fact, in order for infant formula to be dispensed, there now has to be a medical reason.  Sure breastfeeding is best, blah, blah.  However, there are many reasons as to why a woman cannot breastfeed.  Not that  this would matter to a man who does not have breasts and has no clue as to the specifics of breastfeeding.   I don’t live in nyc but what if this starts to spread across the nation?  What’s next?  Forcing women to give birth without the benefit of pain medication?  Don’t think they will go that far?  You’re wrong.  Some people are already saying that the pain medication may affect the babies.  No surprise who is behind all these anti-women, misogynistic measures?  MEN.  Of course men, WHO ELSE?!  Men who will never have breasts, get periods, get pregnant, have babies, breastfeed, etc.  Wonderful.  Aint America grand.
